What exactly is happening in Sudan?

In 2023, the tension between two military factions erupted into the current war happening in Sudan. Fighting broke out between The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum and quickly spread to other parts of Sudan.

The conflict has been marked by intense violence, including airstrikes, heavy artillery shelling, and widespread civilian casualties. It has also resulted in massive displacement, with hundreds of thousands fleeing the fighting and creating a humanitarian crisis.

This war has further destabilized Sudan, exacerbating its economic collapse and humanitarian issues. As of late 2024, the fighting continues, with the SAF and RSF unable to reach a sustainable ceasefire or resolution. Civilian casualties have mounted, and there are reports of ethnic violence and atrocities.
